General membership meeting and more! Your QYC Membership Committee is hosting a Get Engaged event on Thursday, June 19 from 5:30 to 8:30 at Meyer's Hut.
We are inducting some new members, and then we will showcase all things QYC has to offer besides moorage for your boat:
Come meet your Flag Officers and Board Members, and the other committee members who make our Club so fantastic and find a way to Get Engaged that works for you.
Dinner and drinks will be provided.

They can commit to 5 boats minimum per trip, and depending on boat size and condition may be able to take on additional. Multiple divers are available, so the event can be expanded as his crew allows. The baseline visit will be 5, expandable to 15 with a wait list of 10 additional. If you are on the wait list you may not get service until the next service date.
Planned allocation is 10 requests for this date but can be expanded
Cruise Hosts Troy Kindred and Marie Browne invite you to join us for a cruise to a new QYC cruise destination! Kingston is a charming port with lots to do, and it is almost exactly the same distance as to Poulsbo - about 30 nautical miles from Tacoma. Register here, then call the Port of Kingston to reserve your slip. Tell them you are with QYC. They are holding slips for us until June 26, so be sure to call before then to be guaranteed a slip. 360-297-3545.
No boat? Come on up by car! It is about a one hour drive from the Southworth ferry. Maybe book a hotel room and make a weekend out of it?
Cruise agenda
Friday afternoon
Arrive and gather for drinks and hors d'oeuvres at the Gazebo on the dock.
No host dinner on the deck at the Kingston Ale House (steaks, seafood, burgers, beer)
Saturday morning
Breakfast crepes compliments of QYC served in the park.
After breakfast walk through the neighborhood along the waterfront to A Quiet Place Park.
Saturday afternoon
Wander the town and check out the cute shops and places to eat.
Take a 30 minute cruise on the Washington State Ferries from Kingston to Edmonds! It really is a lot of fun when it’s a new boat and a new route (and you don’t have a plane to catch). Edmonds offers even more cute shops and places to eat.
Or just hang out on your boat and watch the ferries and boats and people come and go.
Saturday evening
Catch a free shuttle to The Point Casino for BBQ and live outdoor music by NextUp, an R&B and Classic Rock band. You’ll be back on your boat and asleep by 10:00. Unless you’re feeling lucky. No judgment if you stay and gamble your life savings away! (And if casinos are not your thing, maybe you'll find something else to check out.)
Sunday morning
Catch some music and stock up on farm fresh veggies at the Kingston Public Market which opens at 10:00 am.
Head for home or onward to your next port of call, another fun cruise with your QYC friends to remember when the rains set in again.
Would you like to co-host this cruise and learn what a Cruise Host does? Call or text Marie at 206.225.4713 or email mariebrowne2000@comcast.net. We would love to show you the ropes!
We had an overwhelmingly positive response to the last OpenCPN Tech Talk. We focused on installing the free chart plotter software and touched on how to use it. QYC member Rick Oppegaard has offered to dive more into how to actually use OpenCPN.
If you have installed OpenCPN, this Tech Talk is for you. You will also get access to free charts for Canada.
OpenCPN is available for the following operating systems:
Bring your PC or Mac with OpenCPN installed. Rick is a PC guy so won't be able to help with tech support for the Mac.
This class is open to the public and to QYC members. Please register so we can get an idea of headcount.
This is a hybrid meeting. Please join us at Meyer's Hut at 6:00 for social hour followed by a business meeting from 7:00 to 8:00. We hope to see you at Meyer's Hut but join us by Zoom at 7:00 if you can't make it in person.
